Ian Welsby led with a keynote presentation outlining and illustrating the principles of Gestalt Photography and a discussion about the relationships between elements within the frame. This led to a consideration of the difference in the physical representation of the photograph and interpretation of the scene and whether this would be the same for both photographer and viewers. Kevin Wood showed ‘Parkscapes’, a photomontage project produced during lockdown. The rich history of Greenwich Park was explored through the inclusion of emblematic animals, photoshopped in to allude to real or imagined incidents. Kathryn Alkins, with a presentation of images photographed in the challenging light of Leadenhall Market in the heart of the City, and Barry Cole’s street portraits from London Fashion Week 2019, rounded out the evening.
Our May meeting will by chaired by Barry Cole and the main presentation will be by Peter Luck who will explore aspects of the Urban. Wednesday 18th May.
