Continuing with the theme of “Why I Take Photographs” Judy Harrington and I showed examples of our work.

Judy travels extensively and has picked out samples of her photographs the local culture and of the physical and natural environment of various countries.

I tend towards street photography as its the expression, posture, positioning and behaviour of people that interests me, though I will take a picture of anything anywhere that momentarily looks interesting.

After a break Tony Othen passed round some prints: “for me, being a photographer is a lonely experience and I sometimes like to show that in my photos”. 

Our session concluded with photographs take by Carol Kenna.    The photos below were taken on the opening evening of the  Greenwich & Docklands International Festival 2024.

An extract from “Patois” at Woolwich Garrison Church , Woolwich.

A series of the opening perfromance of “Silence” by Los Commandos Percu at Royal Artillery Barracks, Woolwich following the opening ceremony at the Garrison Church.

In accord with the title of the piece “Silence” about 3/4’s of the way through an near hour long perfromace the group abruptly stopped drumming causing a palpable silence, expecting the audience to follow suit and respect the silence. Instead…. approximately 5 minutes of whistling, clapping to encourage the group to continue the group gave in and drumming was resumed. No respect for Silence in Woolwich !!
