Carol Kenna writes about her photography:

The photo of the Gallery sparked a query as to how did the subject matter of my photos differ from my painting / stroke mural painting. I explained that when I painted murals they were my personal work too. I did not paint on the side and most photos at that time recorded the mural and other work I undertook as Greenwich Mural Workshop. The mural design had to relate to the shape of the building, the neighbourhood and to tell the story the community had chosen. They set the theme, we produced  several designs, they chose the one that fitted their needs – sometimes taking elements from different designs that we had to meld into a whole.
With photos I am recording what I see and hope they transmit the story that I would like to illuminate. I chose not to “edit’ the image, the doorframes encompassed the man and emphasised his relationship with the photo on the wall. I left the writing because again it told added to my story.

For a long time I’ve been fascinated by silhouettes and while walking the dog in Mountsfield Park, Catford, I noticed the late morning sun making silhouettes of the people along the path at the top of the hill.   My interest is in the humal figure, the shape made without the distraction of detail lends itself to groundless and untestable interpretation and story telling.   These are a very few from a large collection.
