Jennifer Robert’s – Walls/Surfaces
For the final meeting before the summer recess. Jennifer Roberts presented an enigmatic series of photographs of walls and surfaces.
Jennifer has been a member of London Independent Photography since 2008 and a member of Crossing Lines since 2011 showing work regularly at group exhibitions and participating in a number of group projects on the urban landscape that included The London Villages Project, A Loose Traverse and the Swanscombe Project. In 2017 she attended the International Urban Photography Summer School at Goldsmiths College and subsequently presented at the Engaging in Urban Image Making symposium in 2018 and the Walking Places symposium, in 2019, hosted by the Centre for Socio-economic and Territorial Studies at the University Institute Lisbon.
The synopsis for this presentation was Jennifer’s reflection on how many photographs of walls she had made over many years. The origins were diverse from street art to the geology of the Pyrénées-Orientales and with interpretations that explored the liminality, superficiality and aesthetics of these barriers and surfaces.
Thanks to all the presenters who have shared and talked about their photography projects so far this year. Crossing Lines returns with more engaging and thoughtful presentations in September.
