The Crossing Lines group met via Zoom on 3 February with two photo presentations followed by a group discussion.

The evening began with Orly Zailer’s latest project, begun during a residency in Düsseldorf last year. Orly continues to research her own ‘act’ as a photographer in this work by playing different ‘roles’. In photographing through the eyes of three photographer ‘characters’, Orly is interested in how awareness of them affects her viewpoint and the images she produces.

In the second part of the evening, Anthony Palmer showed photographs from a project begun while teaching iPad photography at a community centre in NW London. Making images of leaves from Olympic Park trees has led to researching how the decade old landscape re-interprets its past and maintains provenance through the planting of tree species.

Zoom continues to be a good platform for these engaging and lively Crossing Lines discussions and new members are very welcome! Next meeting will be the first Wednesday in March.
