Good to see you last night and I hope you all enjoyed it…the best turn out yet I think!
I decided to start the meeting in a different way and rather than show something I’d pulled off the internet, this month I thought it would be fun to share the details of three people I follow on Instagram. They are all masters of their craft and well worth following.
I then showed everyone the top 100 photos from Wild Art Photographer of Year, The Wet 100 from January, which will hopefully inspire us all.
Our outdoor Putney Exhibition is still up and looking good. If anyone fancies reminding people that its up via social media etc, please tag me in so that I can pass it on.
Common Uncovered – I was glad to see that most of our membership signed up for this latest initiative, our collaboration with Barnes Artists in support of The Friends of Barnes Common. And in addition to my March Newsletter ‘What to see on the common this month’, I shared some pictures I had taken in the last 24 hours on the common, just to show everyone what can be seen. To help everyone with their progress on this, I suggested that everyone turn up to next month’s meeting with their current favourite three pictures, so that we can all critique peoples progress. Given that together with our normal theme, this will mean a lot of pictures to get through, I shall probably modify the meeting and cut out my usual intros.
We then moved onto our theme for the month, ‘Space’ and some fabulous work on show – stand outs for me would be James K (his lockdown work and creativity is on another level and gets better each month), Alastair’s frosty morning (great for our common project I would say), Bergina’s windows and Fred’s beach shot.
It was decided that for next month we would pick ‘Spring’ as our theme and rather than 3 shots, given the common project, just two would do. I dare say, people might like to double up, which will be fine and cut down on the images to show.
This packed programme brought the 2 hour mark up and with no one wishing to add anything I then decided to bring things to a close.
Glad everyone had a good time and with the promise of a little warmth in the air, photography suddenly becomes a gloveless opportunity, yippee!
Our meeting next month will be on Tuesday 20 April and I look forward to seeing everyone then – cheers Andrew Wilson
