I then brought us right up to date with this weeks crop of wonderful pictures of the ‘Wolf Moon’, the first full moon of 2022 and so named by native north Americans because wolves can be heard howling at the moon more around this time of year due to hunger.
We then moved on to our theme of the month, which was ‘movement’ and I was pleased to see that many of us had stepped outside our comfort zones and tried something new (including myself) – stand outs for me would be James for his Kew picture, Julian for his wonderful portrait and Juliette for some wonderful rowers. We also enjoyed hearing from Alasdair exactly how he went about creating his image, which is a composite of at least 3 pictures. Well done everyone, some great stuff.
We decided that our theme for next month rather than being winter, should be ‘Frost’, as we are getting some spectacular ones just now. No doubt the weather will now change since bringing this up but if you get in quick, tomorrow and Friday should be good mornings to try something out (you’ll need to be getting up early though or trying James’s idea of taking something from the freezer, which I rather love the idea of).
Finally, ever since Covid stopped us getting about as much as we used to, I have toyed with the idea of ‘buddying’ up with another photographic group from across the country and sharing our ‘photo stories’. I think this would be a great thing to do and Monireh kindly said she would approach some friends of hers from Zimbabwe, which will be fun. Anyway, I shall keep you posted on how this idea develops.
