LIP Central’s May 2022 Zoom meeting was attended by 21 people and featured ‘Personal Projects’.

Janet Nabney showed 5 architectural collages made up of many photos, some with drawings, that were combined to great effect.

Edey Templeton showed images of the river Wandle with photographs of details and some double exposures and the end result evoked flow and movement.

Ingrid Newton presented poignant work on 5 Latvian postcards from the 1950s and 1960s. These were superimposed with photographs of Ingrid’s mother to reflect her mother’s Latvian heritage and the atrocities committed by the Russian invasion that echoed the current crisis in Ukraine.

Hugh Look showed 14 images from a series entitled ‘American Symmetries, Imagining a Symmetrical World’. The first group of images was mostly architectural moving on to photos with subtle symmetries.

Simon Zebu showed a cleverly curated series of 10 humorous images evoking the photography of street photographer Matt Stuart.

Alec Wyllie presented manipulated photos of flowers that were replicated and recoloured. A few comments suggested his work was reminiscent of silkscreen wallpaper.

Anna Lerner showed photographs about the changing area of Somers Town in London.

Jim Paterson was next and showed works from his travels in Indian, Bali and elsewhere paired with paintings of the corresponding photographs, to make artwork separate from the photographs

Austin Guest showed photos of a church with it’s arts and crafts features together with variety of interesting graves.

Prodeepta Das showed photos from his trip to India for a project photographing girls who have been homeless and lived in incredibly difficult circumstances and were now helped by a charity.

Sue Czapska showed work photographing an old dairy shed. The result was interesting shapes and colourful details, reminiscent of modern art.
