Great to see everyone last night in the Coach & Horses and I must say, having reflected on the convenience of Zoom, I much prefer the in-person meetings.

I started the meeting by publicising something that The Photographers Gallery gallery is doing. A collection of little-used streets and alleyways off London’s Oxford Street have been transformed into a new permanent art gallery. Ramillies Street, Ramillies Place and Hill Place have now become the Soho Photography Quarter. It is planned to change the free display twice a year.


I then talked up the ‘Living with Water’ exhibition that 8 of our group are involved with that’s happening next month – please let everyone in your circle know about it. 

There has been an approach from the vicar of Holy Trinity in Roehampton about the possibility of some creative photographic endeavour for next year, which sounds interesting, so I asked if he might set up a meeting for us to discuss further. 

I forgot to mention last night, that I haven’t given up on my idea of ‘sharing’ photography with other Putney’s from across the world and I have made contact with a lady in Putney, Connecticut and I hope to be sharing with you our exchange soon. 
Sadly, David couldn’t make this evening to share photos from his recent visit to Iceland, so inspired by this month’s theme I took the opportunity to share with the group my Putney ‘boating’ images from across the ages, which I have collated/photographed for my two Putney books and I have attached some of these for you all to see.

We then tackled our theme of the month, Boats and Sailing and what a fine crop of pictures were shared – stand outs for me would be Juliette’s fabulous B&W from under Richmond Bridge, Fred’s well-timed shot from Tenerife, Tim’s funnel and James for his ship in a bottle. We all felt that Susan’s would benefit from being a B&W and I have shared this idea with everyone.
It was decided that next month we should go for an outing rather than a meeting, so the 25 July was agreed upon, destination Strand on the Green and more on this to follow but please put the date aside and let’s pray for some nice weather. So, no theme for next month and as we don’t have a meeting in August – our chosen theme for September will be ‘The Sights of Summer’.

Finally – Fred asked me to share this – he has some pictures up in a forthcoming Malden Camera Club exhibition in July.
