The September meeting of the Central London group saw six members present on the theme of ‘Single Image’, and three members showed images from their personal projects.

Edey’s single image was a close-up section of a fallen tree trunk, shot in black and white with a green filter, using a small aperture and highlighting the wood grain.

Robin showed a view of a tenement building in Stoke Newington, capturing the contrasting colour lines and the nearby cobbled road surface.

Richard showed a crowd in the Mall, in sepia to draw attention to their (and our) place in history and especially at this time.

Jim presented a grain silo in Halifax, Nova Scotia, towering over a line of rail trucks and filling the image with grey and blue tones.

Austin’s image featured a similar subject, a panorama of the now-disused Shredded Wheat factory in Welwyn Garden City.

Tony showed us a storm over Derwentwater, capturing the reflections and drama of the moment with heavy inky sky and silvery water giving the colour image the impression of being captured in black and white.

Janet displayed five images; two featured flowers with contrasting elements on each side. The third was an in-camera double exposure of the interior roof of the British Museum concourse. The final two showed people on a film set outside a bookshop, concentrating on their phones and thus detached from their surroundings.

Sue showed ten views of wild landscapes with clouds and changeable light, invoking the artistic styles of Turner and Monet.

Sukhy presented four images, captured on film in medium format: an apparently-stoned model, a wedding guest with an unusual “line beard” on one side of his face, a painted message within a squatter camp, and a girl in a park.
