Great to see everyone and despite the extra difficulty in our theme, it was good to see some wonderful work plus some excellent creativity and imagination on show.

In a switch to the normal, in order to help James, we started proceedings with a talk by him on one of his photographic hero’s, Andre Kertesz. Active in the first half of the 20th Century, what a wonderful exploration of his work and his influence on everyone that followed, from his diving swimmer to his work with distortion.

We then moved onto our theme of ‘Birds in Flight’

I found it incredibly hard to choose an overall winner but have selected James’ BIF 1. I think it is a beautiful almost ethereal image and very different to most of those submitted. I love the texture and the tones.

Runners up include Fred’s gulls against the grey which I think is stunning and perfectly composed; Sue’s second wolf moon image which everyone loved and Bill’s Bombay image and his Scarborough image, very different but equally rich.

As chosen by Helen, our theme for next month will be ‘Solitude’.
