Good to see everyone and despite the continued awful weather, a great turnout. I gave the group a short presentation on the progress being made on our forthcoming exhibition and for those taking part.

We then moved onto a special presentation from Fred about a project he completed last year in connection to a photography workshop he went on in Lisbon. As you’d expect, with his excellent eye for detail he included some wonderful pictures and far too many to include here, but I have attached 4 of my favourites – thanks again Fred.

We then broke for 10 minutes, after which Rodney kindly took us through our latest theme, which courtesy of Helen was Solitude – in the absence of Bill, Martin kindly stepped forward to give us his thoughts on the runners and riders –

A very wide calibre of topics which pretty much fitted the brief.

Solitude – the state or situation of being alone.

Highly commended to: Benjamin Gray’s perfect composition of ‘Solitary bird’, Sue White with her well captured ‘Portrait admirer’, Sue Oakford with her ‘Solitary in light’ and Alastair Wilson Clarke’s ‘Early morning Dubrovnik’.

Runners up to Juliette’s ‘House on the Lake’ which could adorn many a living room or gallery. My eyes kept going back to view it again and again. And to Ann’s ‘Climber in Lake District’ – perfect timing of the climber in silhouette.

But the photo I consider that wholly fits the definition as above is Paul Rawkin’s ‘Sculler on the Water’. Well-captured and lucky with the shade of the early morning sun on the bridge and buildings in the background.

Thanks Martin and as you say, a hard choice.

Martin’s choice for a theme for next month is ‘Ubiquitous’ and put to the room, it was enthusiastically adopted.
