Lovely to see so many of you last week and again, my apologies for the slight delay in getting my notes out but I was away for the weekend.
I started the meeting by just underlining how successful I thought our exhibition had been and especially our open evening and a big thanks to all those that helped out with the planning and especially the catering – so Juliette, Charles and Martin please stand up and take a bow. I know many more of you helped out, especially Ann, so thank you to you all. Also, thanks to our sponsor, Positively Putney and to Nicola Grant, their director, Judith Chegwiggen from the Putney Society and the lovely Sophie Carr for being our judges on the night.
Finally, well done to our winner, Nigel, who I believe has already cashed in his prize of dinner for two at Home SW15 – huge thanks to them for putting up the prize and I hope the dinner went well. Well done also to Sue, Bill and who was that, oh me, for being highly commended.
We then moved onto our theme for the month and over to Juliette for her adjudication…
‘So many amazing photos to choose from. I had a long list of 12, which I have whittled down to 3. (This has been an incredibly challenging process because many of the photos were just so beautiful).
They are:
In first place: Helen’s son. A very moving image and lovely soft lighting.
In second place: James’ stairs. Very atmospheric and beautiful moody lighting.
In third place: Paul’s river image. Very dramatic lighting and a lovely composition.
There were so many photos that I really liked and I would have chosen all 12 if I could !

For next month’s theme, I thought ‘The river or the canal’
After our usual interval, we moved onto Tim’s visit to Japan some months ago and what an amazing talk it turned out to be. For those that thought they knew Japan, think again – thanks Tim for a fabulous insight into a place not many of us have been too or will ever likely go to.
We ran over slightly, for which my apologies but I think we all felt it worth it on account of Tim’s pictures.
Our next meeting will be Tuesday 20 May and I look forward to seeing you all then – regards and do enjoy getting out and taking pictures AW
